His artistic style is marked by a deliberate departure from traditional rules and formal “grammar,” favoring a deeply personal and intuitive approach.
Life & Career
Singharoy was born into a non-musical family where music had little presence in daily life. Despite this, he developed a passion for music during his childhood by listening to the radio. Influenced by the works of Bengali artists such as Anjan Dutta, Nachiketa, and Silajit, he discovered the emotional and cultural depth of contemporary Bengali music. Later, the songs of Rupam Islam left a profound impression on him, inspiring him to explore his own creative path.
Early & Personal Life
From an early age, Souvik Singharoy aspired to create his own music. As he never received formal training in singing, he preferred to perform his own compositions to avoid being compared to others. During his school years, he planned to form a Bengali band with his friends Swarup Basu and Suvonkor Bhattacharya . On 13 February 2013, they debuted as The Band Memories. Along with bassist Niladri Kabiraj, drummer Pallab Paul, guitarists Anirban Chakraborty and Pabitra Maity, and keyboardist Koushik Shill, they crafted a unique space for Bengali music. Although the band eventually disbanded, many of their unreleased songs were later published on YouTube to preserve their musical archive.
