Sukhram Purty was born on 2 February 1975 in Songra, part of Bandgaon in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, India. Hailing from the Munda tribal community, he grew up immersed in the rich musical heritage of the Mundari-speaking people, whose cultural traditions include songs like Karam, Gena, Jadur, and Or Jadur.
